Seeing God’s Presence

When I talk about listening and looking for God, a common question is:

“How do you keep ears and eyes ready to see the presence of God?”

Pay attention to any of those moments in your life when unexpected tears come in your eyes. You never know when that may happen or what may trigger them. If you pay attention to those moments, you realize that something deep beneath the surface of who you are.

When you listen to your own life to hear what is usually hidden beneath the surface of simple everyday words, you might realize that God has created you, a complex and intricate woman.

Unexpected tears, you never know what may cause them. The sight of a newborn baby or an older couple holding hands can do it, a beautiful melody or just nothing you can identify at all. A pair of somebody’s old shoes can do it.

Almost any movie, a horse cantering across a meadow, the high school basketball team running out onto the gym floor at the start of a game. You can never be sure. But of this you can be sure. whenever you find tears in your eyes, especially unexpected tears, pay close attention.

They are not only telling you something about the secret of who you are. More often than not, God is speaking to you through them of the mystery of where you have come from and to summoning you to where your ultimate home is.

“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are

not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you,”

John 15:19.

So how about you?

“How do you keep ears and eyes ready to see the presence of God?”

I had tears running down my face Sunday as our Pastor called all who had served or are serving in our Armed Forces to come up front so we could offer up our prayers for them! Many were in uniform and three of the retired officers led us in prayer as well as our Pastor. I could feel God in our presence! I felt comforted to have our country and freedom protected by such honorable soldiers and for the sacrefices that the familiees make. Thank you, God, for these soldiers! LisaW in WA

May all the veterans and their families FEEL and KNOW God is present with them every moment as they sacrifice for their country. What a special moment you experienced with them. Thank you for sharing
